Amateur Traveler Interview

Last week I interviewed with Chris Christensen of the Amateur Traveler Podcast and had a chance to talk about Texas. The toughest thing about summing Texas up in a one-week trip? It’s impossible to get every corner of the state in! Nevertheless, places like Houston, South Padre, The Big Thicket, and Lubbock and Amarillo can’t be missed.

As a longtime Texan (Austin, Houston and now Dallas), I want to commend you with the fantastic job you did in reflecting the state’s diversity. I believe you may have helped to dispel some of the negative stereotypes of Texans. I’m also happy to learn of your website and look forward to digging into it. Thanks!

  2. Tricia, that warms my heart. My greatest fear was that I would fail to represent the variety and diversity of Texas. I just listened to the podcast and I’m still not satisfied that I did a good job, but the fact that another Texan thinks I did is encouraging.

  3. I think you did a good job with the interview even though (as I said at the Amateur Traveler) you left Houston out. Ha.. I’m just teasing because you acknowledged right up front that it would be impossible to cover the whole state. The areas you did cover were very well done. Texas represent! Woot!

  4. Thanks for the props! Indeed – it was so tough to be pressed with just one week to be in Texas and I knew I could catch flack from Houstonians (I was a Houstonian myself for 15 years). To this day, I’m an Astros fan and get back to Houston a few times a year – the azaleas should be getting pretty good about now, ‘eh?
